Heard from a friend that Hot Wheels had issued another ’57 recently. Double checked on the Hot Wheels collector site and it seems to have made it’s first appearance there in mid-April. It’s just starting to show up on the shelves at the Walmarts in my area. This ’57 is red with yellow flames, non-porthole and comes packaged in a set with a ’67 Charger and a plastic 3-D diner. The set is called a Racing Kit. It’s #2 in a series of 12. The wheels are silver laced, like the wheels on the black, purple with flames from 1999/2000.

This last spring was up in Guthrie, OK and stopped in a Love’s Truck Stop. Always browse the merchandise available and found several Rt 66 items that featured a red 55 Tbird. One was a deck of cards that uses graphics I’ve seen on other Rt 66 items in the past but the other two were items I haven’t seen before. One is Snow Globe with a red 55 inside the globe along with a “Burger” sign. Outside on the base, were more 3-D objects including another red 55, the top of an old gas pump, more signs and a road. The other item was a table top picture frame also with a red 55 and a route 66 theme in 3-D.

update on July 24: After posting the above brochure and requesting photos of white and baby blue SongBirds, I received an email the following day of an owner with a white SongBird. He also sent a photo so have posted that on the webpage now.

Several Hard Rock Cafes around the world have issued a classic thunderbird pin at one time or other. I have seen them from Spain and Sweden. Have never found one for myself. However, received an early Christmas present in the mail yesterday, from a friend, who sent me a pin from the Hard Rock Cafe in Biloxi, Mississippi. It was a 2008 issue. It’s of a blue 1957 Thunderbird. Photo is on the collectible list on this site.

Worked last night on getting photos of the current Lemax 55 “sports car” on the site. Special thanks to Marty for sending me good clear photos of the model.
Also working on an addition to the Ford station wagon page in the Thunderbird Etc… pages, adding in a list of scale models of the 57 Ford wagon. Plus a new page in the scale models for Continental Mark II models. Yes, branching out some to cover some of the other scale models I have on hand.

Found out recently that SteakNShake is celebrating their 75th Anniversary and have car shaped boxes to present their meals in. They have started with the 55 Tbird in 3 color styles using the Kid Stuff 55/56 tbird box that’s been out for a number of years. The SNS boxes are in yellow, green, and blue with different syled flames on each and stickers to add onto the boxes. If there’s a SNS restaurant in your neighborhood, they sell the boxes for $1. I’ll have photos of the boxes on my site within the next few days – on the collectibles page.
